Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a comprehensive, integrative psychotherapy approach for the treatment of a broad spectrum of presenting issues from disturbing life events to relationship problems, self-esteem issues and complex trauma. This EMDRIA-Approved Basic Course in EMDR is for licensed mental health professionals who are seeking to enhance their clinical skills by learning this powerful, evidence-based treatment approach in our retreat setting with a master trainer who has been on the faculty of Dr. Shapiro’s EMDR Institute since 1993. Participants in this Basic Training program will have an opportunity to experience first-hand the transformative power of EMDR by working on their own disturbing life experiences as well as following a number of case examples.

- How to apply EMDR’s Three-Pronged Protocol for comprehensive treatment effects
- How to identify and reprocess disturbing life experiences that are informing current difficulties
- Client selection criteria and preparation for memory reprocessing with EMDR
- Resourcing strategies before, during and after EMDR processing
- How to effectively facilitate processing when clients get stuck or when clients are experiencing intense emotional responses
- How to apply EMDR with specialized populations such as children and families, couples, combat veterans, and adults traumatized as children
