The Craft of EMDR Therapy:
Taking it to the Next Level

Do you struggle with adhering to the standard protocol while trying to help your client get better?

Do you feel like you can only use this methodology on some clients because of the inherent uncertainties of memory processing?

How much is enough preparation before initiating memory work when you know the client’s instability is being driven by their unprocessed memories?

Whether you were recently trained or have struggled to integrate this methodology into your clinical practice, this two-day training is designed for therapists who want to take their work to the next level with courage and clarity.  Instead of evaluating client readiness for processing, it’s about co-creating the conditions that make it possible to move towards healing. While the structure of EMDR Therapy is important, our ability as therapists to tailor our approach to each client we serve (versus the other way around) is central to our work as healers.  This is about the psychotherapy of EMDR, which requires as much emphasis on the relationship as it does on protocol.  Through lecture, discussion, small group practice and video examples of clients, you will walk away with:

  • A newly found appreciation of the core elements of EMDR Therapy
  • Distinguishing between a problem-informed versus a symptom-focused treatment plan
  • A working understanding of clinician as well as client skills needed for EMDR Therapy
  • A clear distinction between resources versus resourcing
  • One or more advanced applications of the Three-pronged protocol
  • How to use parts of self to facilitate co-consciousness as well as dual awareness
  • How to use Clinical Interweave strategies (CIC) to facilitate processing

Washington, DC Area • Saturday, Sept. 12 to Sunday, Sept. 13

Clinical challenges like these have inspired me for the last 40 years. As an EMDR Evangelist, I’ve worked with leading clinicians and innovators in EMDR, trauma treatment and somatic healing to expand the understanding of EMDR as a comprehensive psychotherapy . As a therapist, I’ve refined the application of EMDR to enhance its effectiveness in repairing attachment injuries, resolving negative life patterns rooted in complex trauma and other challenging clinical cases. As a trainer and consultant, I’ve traveled throughout the US and around the world to help ensure that therapists everywhere have the understanding, skill and confidence they need to bring the transformative healing power of EMDR Psychotherapy to the clients they see.
